FAQ

What about safety and security?
Windsor Hills Resort is a secure community with a gatehouse, which is manned 24/7 so access is restricted to bona-fide guests and authorized personnel. Our home is fitted with smoke detectors, emergency lighting and equipped with two fire extinguishers. There is a safety screen in front of the pool, which will prevent young children from entering the pool but this is still no substitute for supervision. The main pool has a lifeguard on duty throughout the day, as you would expect.

How far is the home from the clubhouse?
The home is in a quiet location just 3 minutes walk away from the clubhouse and pool yet it is not visible from the home and neither is it on or near the 'main' road for persons driving into the resort.

Is there shopping nearby?
Yes, the Formosa Gardens Plaza (just West of Old Lake Wilson Road on highway 192) has a Winn-Dixie grocery store, 24-hour Walgreen’s drug store and other shops.  There are many restaurants catering to all tastes and budgets all less than 3 miles from the Windsor Hills Resort. There is a Publix supermarket on highway 192 and there are also 3 Wal-Marts and a Super Target within a short driving distance, well as numerous convenience stores located on US 192. You can always obtain items from the Windsor Hills Resort Sundry shop. This closes at 10pm.

How far from the Theme Parks
We are just 5 minutes / 2 miles from Walt Disney World main gate - the Windsor Hills Resort is the closest vacation rental community to Disney, there are just 2 traffic lights on the way.  There is a back door / shortcut route following Sherbeth Road that takes you right into WDW by Animal Kingdom.  Sea World is 15 minutes away, Universal Studios / Islands of Adventure are just 20 minutes away.

Is there transportation to the parks?
Transportation is available to the following theme parks: - Disney, Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure and Sea World. The shuttle also visits the shopping Malls. A fare is payable. The timetable is displayed inside the Windsor Hills on-site sundry shop.

Are linens and towels provided?
The beds are made up when you arrive and there is a spare change of bed linen usually in the bedroom but in any event there will be several in the airing cupboard. There are also additional pillows and blankets. There are plenty of good quality towels including some large pool towels. Face cloths are also provided.

Are there cleaning supplies?
We provide cleaning items such as a mop, broom, dustpan and vacuum. We also supply rubber gloves, kitchen and bathroom cream cleaners and tile and glass cleaner for the showers.  Dish washing liquid and dishwasher tablets are also supplied.

What do I need to bring
There are a few things you'll want to either pack or pick up locally upon your arrival. We provide hand soap and small bars of guest soap. Personal items like toothpaste, bath soaps, shampoo, etc. are not provided, for hygiene reasons. Also, we don’t supply laundry detergent and although we do supply dishwasher tablets we can’t guarantee that there will some there for you. We therefore recommend packing a few if you have these at home.  We also do not provide items like coffee, tea, or any type of consumables or food. The cleaning company removes any such items left behind as each guest leaves the units (this is the common practice in Florida).  You should expect to find the refrigerator empty and clean upon arrival.

What is the Splash pool / spa?
The screened in pool approx. 12'square and is big enough for a relaxing bathe and for having fun in the water with the family. There are spa jets that come on periodically. These provide a soothing water flow that you can enjoy. The pool has steps and seats inside along one side for sitting and is approx. 5 foot deep.

Is the pool heated?
The Olympic sized swimming pool near the clubhouse is heated during the winter months and the hot tub/Jacuzzi is heated all year round. Heating of the townhome pool/spa is optional. If selected it will be heated to a really warm bath-like temperature

Is the pool serviced?
We have a professional pool maintenance company that cares for the pool and equipment regularly. They will ensure the pool and water is in tiptop condition. If you do feel that it needs attention please call our Management Company who will arrange for someone to visit. They will come and go by the back gate.

Is pest control provided?
Yes, we contract with a professional pest control company to provide pest control prevention both inside and outside of the home on a regular basis.  Because of this it is quite rare for there to be a bug problem for guests. However, the pest controllers are on call should there ever be a need or problem. You can help minimize the chances of getting bugs by being careful not to leave food lying around, keeping the kitchen worktops clean and the floor crumb free.

What do I do with my garbage?
Every day except Sundays and national holidays, Windsor Hills Resort picks up garbage from all of the townhomes.  There is a "seat" by the front door that opens up, inside is the garbage bin / receptacle.  Garbage must be placed in bags in this receptacle for pickup as needed.  No loose garbage items. There is also a trash compactor on-site should you wish to use it.

How do I use the Internet?
Internet access is through our Cable supplier.  The connection is to a high-speed and secure wireless network. The network name and pass code will be emailed to you should you wish to bring your own laptop/notebook computer.  It is completely free for our guests’ use.

Will my security deposit get charged if I break anything?
We are aware that accidents happen so don’t worry if you break a glass, cup, plate or dish. We won’t charge in these circumstances but we would like to know about it so it can be accounted for in the post departure inventory check. All you need do is leave a note.
